Join our Finance Department to support the mission of Deborah's Place.  We are seeking a motivated, organized, self-starter with analytical skills to serve as the Accounting & Grants Manager.

The position is responsible for, but is not limited to, managing government contracts and financial record keeping including general ledger management; bank reconciliations; audit preparations; and property management reconciliation. This position is responsible for monitoring and supervising  accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Fiscal & Grant Management

  • Perform government contract functions including vouchering, reporting, tracking, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliations.
  • Participate in finance and budget components of government application processes.
  • Coordinate government contract audits and reviews.
  • Prepare financial reports for all foundations, corporations, organizations, religious and individual grants/contracts in conjunction with or at the request of the Development department.
  • Reconcile general ledgers to property management ledgers.
  • Deposit & reconcile cash receipts.
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations.

General Accounting and Administration

  • Supervise Accounting Associate in day-to-day payable/receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
  • Process and prepare monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger in FundEz accounting database. 
  • Manage monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to supervisors and serve as point of contact for review and reports as necessary.
  • Assist Chief Financial Officer with various processes, annual audit, projects and other compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to resolve any finance issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:  Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; Master Degree preferred. Experience working in nonprofit environment required. 

Licensure and/or Certification: N/A

Job Experience: 2-3 years not-for-profit accounting experience including management of government contracts and vouchering; monthly financial statement preparation; 2-3 years of supervision experience preferred.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions and percentages.

Special Knowledge & Skills: Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in FUNDEZ or similar accounting software; proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Excel and Word; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to handle and maintain confidential information.  Strong knowledge of fund/grant accounting and GAAP guidelines.
